Procedure
What will happen on the day of the procedure?
Once you arrive, you
will need to be registered at the front desk
You will need to come
with someone to drive you home and stay with you for a few hours
You will be escorted to
the admit room by a nurse or endoscopy technician. Once there, a nurse
will explain the procedure to you, will ask you questions regarding the
preparation and your medical history, as well as a list of medications, then
she will start an IV
The doctor will do a
pre-procedure assessment and physical exam, and will got through any questions
you may have before the procedure
How about the procedure itself?
The procedure will be
performed after medications are given and you are comfortable and relaxed.
Most people do not have any recollection of the procedure

After the Procedure
You will be
still under the influence of the medications (sleepy and forgetful) for several
hours after the procedure. It is important that you do not drive until
the next day.
You will need someone to
stay with you for several hours after the procedure
We will explain the
findings to you before you leave the hospital, but it is likely that you will
forget. Please make sure your companion can remember and explain this to
you later if needed.
